Savannah Black Heritage Festival
The Savannah Black Heritage Festival kicks off its celebration on February 1 and will continue through February 23 with pre- and post-festival events.
The Grand Festival Day will be Saturday, February 9 at the Savannah Civic Center. This full day of activities (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.) is one of the highlights of the festival, and includes top entertainment, retail vending, ethnic cuisine, crafts workshops, and a health fair.
In addition to the variety of activities for youth and performances by nationally famous recording artists, food and retail vendors will also be on hand with a wide variety of food, goods and services. The entire festival is presented by the City of Savannah and Savannah State University, and all events and activities are free of admission and open to the public.

Shel’s Shorts by Shel Silverstein
Lauded poet, songwriter and author of children’s books, the incomparable Shel Silverstein also wrote dozens of short plays, which are deeply infused with the same wicked sense of humor that made Silverstein famous. Enjoy some of these plays performed by Savannah’s Bay Street Theatre group. Tickets are available online and at the door.

Leveling the Genres & other works by Derek G. Larson
Telfair highlights a selection of mixed media and motorized works, video and animated GIFs by new media artist Derek G. Larson. Included are works from Leveling the Genres, a series of video projections and screen prints first exhibited at the Vox Populi Gallery in Philadelphia in 2012.
Derek Larson’s work has been featured in the Seattle Times, NY Arts Magazine, The Times-Picayune and Rhizome @ The New Museum in New York. He is the director of 4D Studies and assistant professor at Georgia Southern University.

Savannah Tire Hockey Classic
The Savannah Tire Hockey Classic is a collegiate hockey tournament that now features six of the South’s most exciting hockey programs: University of Georgia, University of Florida, Georgia Tech, Florida State, University of South Carolina, and The Citadel.
The very first “Rumble in the Rink” or Memorial Health Hockey Classic took place on January 8-9, 1999 at the Savannah Civic Center. The four original teams included the University of Georgia, University of Florida, Georgia Tech, and the University of Tennessee. Georgia Tech captured the first Thrasher Cup.

13th Annual Low Country Home & Garden Show
