Georgia’s 100-mile long coast line boasts to have 1/3 of the remaining tidal salt marshes along the entire Atlantic coast! Georgia’s salt marshes are some of the most biologically productive natural systems on Earth. They produce nearly twenty tons of biomass to the acre, which makes them four times more productive than the most carefully cultivated cornfields, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
The enormous productivity helps to make the salt marshes primary nursery areas for blue crabs, oysters, shrimp, and other economically important fish and shellfish. Join us for a day of salt marsh exploration fun and learn why we must protect this precious ecosystem.

1. Tybee River Race: 6 ½ miles on the tidal river separating Tybee and Little Tybee Islands; tests speed and endurance.
2. Little Tybee Challenge: 8 miles, circumnavigates part of Little Tybee Island, passing through narrow tidal creeks, broad tidal rivers, open coastal areas, and two surf zones. Little Tybee Challenge racers should have rough water experience and be competent at self rescue. Your boat must be sea worthy in rough conditions.
3. Race Across the River for Gold Sponsors: Our Gold sponsors compete for a grand prize of a two- hour natural history trip for ten-plus people on Mike Neal’s boat, the Island Explorer, or a kayak adventure for up to 8 with Moon River Kayak Tours. Each of these sponsors selects one person (employed by the business or part of the group) to race a kayak (we provide) across the Back River and back to the marina.

The Savannah Derby Devils became a league in 2006, and have been attracting more and more women every year. They are the only recreational women’s flat-track roller derby league in Savannah. The Devils operate under the rules and guidelines of the Womens’ Flat-Track Derby Association.
Come to Savannah’s first women’s derby bout of the season. If you’ve never been to a roller derby bout, or have no idea what it’s about, you need to go. These tough ladies endure punches, kicks, scrapes, and jabs all season long while jamming and pivotting their way around their opponents. The Devils are definitely the team to watch in this league.

There is also a junior derby league in Savannah to check out that officially got started in 2011.

Come enjoy an afternoon into evening 10K walk in the beautiful city of Tybee Island Georgia (5k option available as well). We will have a Sunset Ceremony at Fisherman’s Walk pier, then each walker will receive a pink glow stick and will travel the last mile along the beach (optional). We will then finish at the Tybee Pier and Pavilion with a Celebration of Life Party complete with TropRock artist Jim Asbell playing on the Pier! Fund raising is the lifeblood of any charitable organization, so fund raising and sponsorships are strongly encouraged so we might make a bigger impact on the cancer community in Coastal Georgia! We also need Crew members to come out and help our walkers along their journey, so if you can’t walk, please consider Crewing…either way, it will be an experience you will not soon forget! Proceeds to benefit LibLines Breast Cancer Fund at the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute of Memorial University Hospital, Savannah, GA.

Ten private gardens selected for their outstanding landscaping and architectural design will open their gates to you for this tour. Join visitors from across the nation at a Southern Tea from 2pm to 4 pm in the parlors of the Green Meldrim House. Meander in its garden, relax on the porch, enjoy refreshing iced tea, sweets and savories, and be entertained.
